Transcranial direct current stimulation is the therapeutic impact of constant low direct current on the nerve cells of the brain. We use a modified Western European technique, that is, tDCS (transcranial Direct Current Stimulation).
DOES YOUR CHILD NEED THIS?
TDCS is assigned to children with hyperactivity disorder; attention deficit; a delay in mental development; behavioral and speech problems; autism (early childhood autism (ECA), Asperger’s syndrome).
WHAT PROBLEM DOES IT SOLVE?
Some children have disturbances of the work of certain deep brain structures, which are difficult enough to influence. The tDCS method makes it possible to influence locally those structures precisely which functions are disturbed. The constant minimum current helps the development of nervous tissue and creation of new connections between nerve cells.
WHAT IS THE NOVELTY AND DIFFERENCE FROM OTHERS?
“Neurological clinic of Dr. Yatsenko” was the first in Ukraine to apply this method to help neurological patients. Our clinic is the leading medical institution in Ukraine, using tDCS method in its therapeutic activities. In the process of long-term practical work with the tDCS method we developed our own unique treatment plans.
HOW DOES IT HAPPEN?
A special hat with wires is put on the child’s head. During the procedure, child does not experience any unpleasant sensations and can be engaged in different interesting activities (watch cartoons, play with favourite toys, etc.).
WHAT ARE THE RESULTS?
This method is used in Russia for twenty years. Nowadays numerous foreign studies have been carried out, confirming the effectiveness of tDCS (for example, Oxford University study).
“Neurological clinic of Dr. Yatsenko”, besides standard plans of treatment, uses its own unique schemes of treatment. The application of this method significantly increases the efficiency of any rehabilitation program – speech therapy, psychological sessions.
HOW MANY PROCEDURES DOES IT NEED?
The course consists of 10 procedures (duration – 40 minutes), conducted daily or 3-4 times a week. The number of courses is calculated individually (on average – 3 courses).
TDCS is prescribed to children from 2 years old.
